40 CANS FOR 40 DAYS

Lent_40 Cans.jpg

This is a Knights of Columbus charity program that connects traditional Lenten almsgiving with the nutritional needs of poor families in our community. The idea is simple: a straight forward one-can (or non-perishable item) per-day donation during Lent inspired by Christ’s 40 days of fasting in the desert.

The Supreme Council offers financial rebates to councils that donate food or money.  They will refund $100 for every $500 donated, or for every 1,000 pounds of food that a council contributes to a parish food pantry, community food bank or soup kitchen.

The Knights will collect the food each week, weigh it and deliver it to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.  There will be boxes at the entrances of the Church for your contributions.

DEVELOPMENT & PEACE — SHARE LENT

The Development & Peace annual Share Lent campaign started Ash Wednesday!  In this traditional time of fasting, prayer and almsgiving, your generosity is called upon, so they can sustain their transformative work in the Global South. This year’s campaign theme is Create Hope: Reaping our Rights. They will meet peasant communities who feed the world while caring for the Earth…our common home.  VIEW SHORT VIDEO

CATHOLIC NETFLIX — SIGN UP FOR FREE!
Catholic Netflix2.png

FORMED.ORG provides some amazing religious content on a platform that has sometimes been dubbed “Catholic Netflix”.  The Diocese purchased a subscription for three years (thanks to a generous donation from Sacred Heart College), which means that all our parishioners have free access to this great programming.   Among other things, it is a great resource and a way to support our Diocesan Pastoral Plan.   Why not check it out this weekend?
•  Go to Formed.org • Select the Formed for Individuals button • Type in your email and click Submit • For Find your Parish type “Immaculate Peterborough” and select us from the dropdown list • Click the Next button • Type your Name and Email address and click the Sign Up button • Then begin exploring the engaging and professional content.  You will find excellent videos on saints, some fine children’s programming, and “The Search” which is a great exploration of the Catholic faith—among many other resources.  And did I mention it’s all free?
